Grumman Ironworks F-14Echo Super StarCat is a space-borne evolution of the Tomcat lineage that Womprat Squadon employs to great effect against the Great Galactic Empire!
With lineage tracing back to antiquity, with names such as WildCat, HellCat, and BearCat, the StarCat takes Grumman to the space-age and beyond.
A two place, twin engined fighter and bomber interceptor, the StarCat employs many systems the majority of Rebel engineers deem as obsolete to subpar at best, but this difference in design mentality is what works best for Womprat Squad. The power core which consists of a metallic hydrogen converting micro-fusion reactor provides this large fighter with all the necessary energy required to run every system, from weapons to shielding to propulsion with plenty of power in reserve.
The choice of utilizing a 2cm rotary mass driver is perhaps one reason why some Rebel engineering experts question the validity of such a large twin engine fighter to compare favorably against such designs as Incom's X-wings, and certainly against the much smaller and in their view, more combat flexible A-wing for fighter interception duties but that hasn't dissuaded the rats from using their Grumman Iron; as their combat record to date speaks for itself.
Rotary mass driver, large caliber rotary heavy blasters verging on Turbo Laser classification, and externally mounted heavy yield protonic and photonic missiles as well as torpedoes makes this large Cat also a switch hitter in duties as capital ship hunter, something a pure fighter interceptor could never do! And yes, while the StarCat is large by standards of X and A wing fighters, it isn't much larger overall than a BTL Y-wing, and certainly smaller than a Quarrie / Slayn & Korpil B-wing. But the one clear advantage the Womprat StarCats have over other conventional Rebel designs is the choice of two absolutely huge General Electronics - GE100-F400 after accelerating fussal thrust engines that are better suited to propelling a Corellian CR90 Corvette. These twin monsters push the StarCat to megalight speeds in excess of 120 on minimal power, 135 on normal power settings, and when fed a boosted charge with diverted shield and weapons energy, a blistering 150 megalights that would dust ANY highly modified Sienar TIE Advanced X2 with similarly configured power settings. Nothing short of Solo's Falcon can come close, and even then, on the verge of blowing an engine as to be expected from that "piece of junk".
In short... The rats love their Cats and wouldn't put their fuzzy butts into anything else except for maybe tuned A-wings and B-wings of their own alterations.

As for real world technical stuff, this model was done in low polygon from the start, as I intend to evolve it in bits and pieces over time. As it stands, it's a nice enough model to use as an image prop for exported stuff like my previous Bogie or Bandit image, and later when I can detail the hell out of this, I'll give everyone a closer look at the insides and other stuff.
