Specifically, it is a map of the Northern Territory, part of the Nordguard comic's universe and where most of the fun in the books will take place.
I posted some photos of painting the map on Blogspot and the Nordguard LJ, so check 'em out if you're curious.
For a "real world" point of reference, Kuuvik (down at the bottom) is in relation to Churchill, Manitoba. The map is based on period maps (late 1800s/early 1900s) and the charted arctic regions of the era. Some of the topographical features of the map are different in the Nordguard universe (namely there's a few additional mountain ranges, which slightly effect climate and the treeline) but the coastline is roughly the same.
It was a nice, brain dead break from painting pages--and now I can stop using the scribbled bar-napkin map I was referencing before. ;]
But, now back to painting pages!

Yeah. The political boundaries of countries/regions are different. What would be the American/Canadians are settled further north (since I figure animals with fur could put up with a slightly harsher climate if the rewards were more fish--which is the carnivore staple after bird.)
Manifest destiny pushed the American/Canadian group northwest instead of west. This this world, down south, what we'd know as Georgia and down is a Spanish territory, Quebec is a dominion of France, and Russians still have a claim on a large chunk of Alaska, for instance.
I would like to note that all manner of species make up the nations and various political powers. Dogs, however, are sort of a representative of Caucasians, and are plentiful now in comparison to the sparser populations of northern native animals.

:o I never thought of the world of Anthros in that way. There are a stupidly vast amount of Dog breeds, so i can see the idea of them being the 'Caucasian' representatives. I'v been Trying to work a few ideas out myself when it comes to the Anthro universe. Out of many others im defiantly liking this.
I'v also struggled on the idea of the most fantasy animals. Yet i think im my work (store WIP) i think they wouldn't quite work, even though i'd like to include dragons and gryphons. There best suited for fantasy stories.
also Shoes! Gah...Shoes on digi legged anthros just confuse my Brian. Yet my friend came up with an interesting piont. An anthro would probably were shoes to protect there feet just as sled dogs need when crossing snow and ice. even if they look odd to us, to an anthro it would be very fashionable.
I knida liked that idea. Yet im still debating on weather to place Paw Pad like boots (there so funny looking) on my chars atm.

You're going to have your job cut out for you remembering all these locations and such. I can't draw a quality map to save my life, but I can appreciate how much they are needed, particularly when you are writing stories that cross multiple boundaries, cities, and all the other things that are involved in civilization and geography.

Cool map, if it's all traditional made: respect!
Anyway, when I've heard this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWb1ppSvSjY the first thing I've imagined was your Nordguard.
...Curious that's the most strange Drone Metal I've ever heard!

One more vote of encouragement to create a poster of this map. As a poster, you might wish to include some portraits of your main characters, perhaps in the classic-style oval frame, similar to a cameo frame. Hell, I'm on unemployment, and I'd put some dosh on a pre-order! Don't think of it as marketing; think of it as fan service.
