That's the book Serena was writing her poetry in. I thought about giving it some distinctive markings in the earlier pages but I didn't do so, and now it's just a completely indistinctive book that the comic expects the reader to recognize. Maybe you did anyway, I dunno.
Vladimir's coloring is not particularly similar to normal lions, but it's just how I imagined him and I felt like leaving him that way. I like that it gives him a different palette from the rest of the house, since if he was colored like a normal lion he'd be tan-furred and brown-haired just like them.

Ut oh. Looks like things don't seem to be doing well. Though, looks like he thinks she's straight, on the other hand, there are those little single quotes. Maybe he thought she got it off of some other boy, or maybe he knows a bit more. I mean, you know lionesses, and all.
