Just another silly pose suggested by my brother.
Last photo, everyone. Hope you enjoyed them, and to those going to AC, now you know what I look like, so you can avoid me.

I do plan on making it to a con one of these years...it's just that money's an issue, and I don't even know what ID I need to get past the border, and if I'm going, I'm making the most of it, which means I'm spending lots of money...plus, if at all possible I'm getting a fursuit: once gain, money...
Well, have fun at AC! Maybe in a few years, I'll see ya there!

Well, I've estimated my costs to be, ideally, two thousand (including fursuit) before travel. Now, it's probably possible to bus down to AC, and the bus terminal's apparently right across the street from the con, but that would be expensive. Currently, I'm planning on figuring out what the bus would cost down to Toronto, because there's definitely furs passing through there, probably living there, and if I can hitch a ride with someone, and split gas with them, trade off driving if I have my license by then (probably will by next year, definitely by the year after) and they trust me with their vehicle...I'd rather sit on a bus for four and a half hours, then in a car for eight with someone I share at least one common interest with, than on a bus, alone, for half a day (though there could very possibly be other furs on the bus...who knows?).
Only problem is, I'm hoping to go a few days before and leave a few days after, and take time to see the city a bit and do some volunteer before and after the con (apparently hours on days before and after count double, and you only need ten hours of volunteering for an AC shirt, and fifteen for a free membership for the next year). If I get REALLY lucky, I'll run into a fur from where I live, but the only fur I know doesn't have any money either and is really...REALLY...strange.
Wow, I talk too much!

Well, it's the logical thing to do, kind of--you're dropping a few thousand dollars, I'd be dropping one to two, maybe two and a half; why not make the most of it? Only unfortunate part is I might have to run down to Pittsburgh pretty quickly to make it to AC if I do go next year, which could cause trouble with transportation and volunteering plans.
And, of course, all this really depends on me being able to find a job soon, so I can work through the summer. The issue there is, there's an opening at my favorite bookstore, and I'd get a discount, I think they have prescription eyewear as part of their medical plan thing meaning I might finally be able to replace my glasses for cheap, and the employees are nice people...I even know the manager, meaning that I might be able to get a job despite not quite having the high school or equivalent diploma the job wants, and might even be able to get around the may-or-may-not-exist hidden college/university diploma requirement (my Mom's heard from the manager that this exists, but there's a guy there who can't be more than a year out of highschool).
The downside to this bibliophile dream job? I'm a bibliophile--I love books. I'm working in a book store, where I'm getting money, and then can spend it without having to actually go anywhere. And when I've got money in a bookstore, I leave with empty pockets--once blew two hundred dollars in about ten minutes. Which says bad things about my ability to save up ten times as much...(although, considering that was two hundred made over a single weekend, doing work that wasn't all too labour intensive, just time consumer (scraping the finish off of a hardwood floor. a HUGE hardwood floor. And this still didn't fix problems with the floor, so we had to go back again a couple weekends later and do THE SAME THING), and I know my dad's getting more weekend jobs lined up, and he knows I'm just going to be fairly un-busy all summer, it's possible I might be able to get some money that way, and once I break the news to my parents that I'm going to this 'thing down in Pittsburgh...I'll be gone for a week...with no way for you to contact me...and no idea who I'll be with', I might be able to borrow some money from them. If I'm able to convince them that I'll be fine in Pittsburgh, the weird people I'll be surrounded by are nice and friendly, and I'll be perfectly fine in a foreign city alone (which will be a new experience for me) and surrounded by complete strangers in tightly packed conditions (which I'm never good with). So, chances are I'll have to take advantage of the fact that they no longer have any legal power over me (which is going to be difficult, as just because they can't LEGALLY control me doesn't mean they can't easily control me...)
So, tl;dr version: Money is going to be an issue, as is explaining what furries are/what AnthroCon is/why I'm going/the fact that I'll probably be fine.
