A few artists out there have asked me for a close-up of cat paws, so this one goes out as part of my continuing "conspiracy" to forever inspire artists! So yes! It continues, Lady Balaa! It is my hope that I can help all those incredible artist out there by giving them some of the reference pix that they need - and have asked for - to improve their own works, so this one is entirely for that purpose.
This is Nemesis - even though you can't see him - who was posing calmly, so I got a bunch of "front" shots, and I figured while his paws were sitting there for the taking (no pun intended) I should probably snap a few of those as well, as long as he was letting me. Nemesis, like most leopards, is a little moody, and sometimes he's very tolerant of my photo-taking, and at other times, he really thinks that I should put that clicky thing away and just pay attention to him, and other times still, he's rather snarly that I'm bothering him at all and I should just go away and bother someone else! Even other times, in classic cat fashion, I do not even exist in the entire universe - the global, cat, ignore-the-stupid-human mode is engaged - and I can take all the pix I want!
I still find Nemesis to be one of the most regal beasts I've ever had the honor of working with, so even though this doesn't show much of him, I hope you artist folk out there will find it useful! So this one of Nemesis' paws goes out to you! Enjoy!
This picture was taken 22-Jul-04. The image was taken with a Canon EOS 10D and the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM lens. The original was taken at full frame of 3072x2048x24b, ISO eqv 400, 1/90 shutter, f/5.6. This image was cropped and shrunken down for space conservation, but not as much as I usually do so you can download and zoom in a bit if you need to. :)
Disclaimer: I hate to have to put this on here, but the pic is copyright me. Please do not distribute, copy, alter, etc, without my permission. Having said all that, feel free to download and use it for your own inspiration.

Awesome! I'm really glad you'll find it useful.
I've got one that's a /really/ close-up of the underside of the paw, almost back to the wrist, that I'll probably put up later.
I thought this one would be a bit more useful, as most drawings are of the top-sides anyway, so this one seemed the best for starters.

Nem, unfortinately, is declawed, as he used to be a stage cat in a magic show.
I know I have a few of Drifter with his claws flexed out, so it's just a matter of doing some searching until I find them. I have several thousand pix of Drifter alone, so it might take me a bit.
But yes, and yes. As soon as I find a good only, I'll post it. :)

Oh, I finally read your essay. It was really good. Well done! I can tell you put a lot of thought and emotion into it. :)
I can't write stuff like that. I tend to totally get onto my soapbox and don't quit for 20-pages! By then, I've totally annoyed the snot out of everyone. :)
