So this is the follow up to the prior piece of these two cuties by the same artist, and like the last one, it's also accompanied by a small story snippet. I had to rewrite a few parts, because a couple things changed since I wrote it, but it's still the same general idea and it's still really cute. While it might seem like this is the same night, it's intended to be at a later time, maybe a few days later, maybe a couple weeks, not really decided. Just at a later time, this being the start of them accepting their feelings for each other basically. Enough rambling, here it is if anyone wants to read it <:

Meru:
He did it, he finally did it. Rather than being in the water this time, Meru had taken the courage to stay on land, and he was now sitting next to her. He had a feeling she had been wanting him to join her up here for a while, but he was had been too nervous to do so prior.
The sky was really beautiful, but that wasn't really what he was mostly interested in or focused on. She was. The warm light emitting from her tail, cast a soothing and calming presence around her and it made her even more beautiful than during the day. While he had been appreciating her from the water prior, this was the first time he was really close enough to take it all in, the flickering of the flames being rather entrancing. Whenever she would look at him, he would immediately direct his gaze back up at the sky, not wanting to be caught staring for at her, though he had a feeling she knew and didn't seem to mind. He wanted to say things, but couldn't find the words, instead just resorting to pawing at the ground, trying to calm his nerves. Then suddenly, he felt something warm on his right paw. Looking down he was met with her warm gaze, her eyes both beautiful and inviting. It was her paw, she had moved from beside him to instead lying in front of him without him noticing, staring straight into his eyes with a warm loving gaze. They stared at each other for a while, before she moved in for a kiss, which while unexpected, he returned happily, his unrest immediately ceasing, his feelings reciprocated. He loved her.

Phyress:
She was pleasantly surprised when Meru joined her on land, rather than staying in the ocean like he had been doing every other time. She wasn't expecting it to have happened as fast as it, but she wasn't going to object, in fact, she had been wanting to have him join her, but didn't want to be pushy, figuring he'd do it when ready.
Having him sitting next to her though, on a dark night like this, was something else entirely from normal. His mane gently blowing in the wind and his body illuminated only by the moon and her tail, as opposed to when he was in the water, where the dark waters and his colours made him harder to see, up here next to her, he was on display, warmly lit up by the flickering fire. She didn't want to say anything, but she did notice him staring at her a lot out of the corner of her eye. She didn't really mind, though she did find it both amusing and charming how quickly he would act innocently, and as if he wasn't staring at her, when she'd turn to look at him. Couldn't help but bring a smile to her face, he really was rather adorable, even though she probably wouldn't be able to get him to confess to that. She got up and moved to face him, putting her paw on his, wanting to tell him it was okay, as he seemed a bit tense, and like something was on his mind, but before any sound could escape her mouth, her eyes locked with his. She looked into those beautiful yellow eyes and found the answer she was looking for, no words needed, so she leaned in for a kiss and without any hesitation, he did the same. She loved him.
