I was looking at Spine just the other day as I had some experience in Live2D and it was recommended for puppet stuff!
Was it the essential or professional version you used to get such smooth deforming? :O
I still mega appreciate studios who sell licencies without monthly payments :') I'm almost sold just on that merit haha!

Professional! I think with non professional you're restricted on export settings and stuff. Spine is great!
The arms are basically tubes that I can twist and distort around with a mesh! It took some tweaking to make it look good!
