One of the things I like about Doonesbury is how they go back and forth from political satire to the personal lives of its characters. Sometimes the two intertwine, like Doonesbury's daughter (isn't her name Alex?) falling in love with Toggle, a soldier who suffered a brain injury in Afghanistan.
