That is a possibility. Many of the carvers trained as apprentices with established artisans, too, and adopted their styles.

Daniel Hastings was from Newton, so his work is heavy around there, Weston, Marlborough and Waltham. Plus he had commissions throughout inner MA and even in Woodstock, CT.
I'm not sure where you're from, but if it's anywhere near north-central MA you've likely seen his work at least once.
