Lost World Species Profile: Yangchuanosaurus
Yangchuanosaurus "Yangchuan Lizard"
Yangchuanosaurus Shangyouensis
Taxon: Dinosauria
Range: Lower Hemisphere of Planet Sanctuary (The Lost World)
Temperament: Extremely Dangerous
Referred to by locals as "Feathered Dragon, Feathered Beast, Terror Lizard, or Yangchuan"
Appearance:
Yangchuanosaurus is a Medium-Large theropod dinosaur covered with thin grey plumage on the majority of its body, adorning a broad head sporting a pair of twin crests on top of it's head, as well as a black tear shaped stripe down its eyes that dim the sun during daytime hunts.
Over thirteen feet tall, thirty nine feet long, and weighing around four tons fully grown
Habitat:
Prefers to live in coastal plains, savannahs, scrub land, mesas, and even reported to occasionally be seen in red woods during certain times of the year. And is extremely territorial
Diet:
Most of any creature it can outrun (as well as the occasional unlucky human or humanimal, and is even cannibalistic)
Common Prey:
Procoptodon, Antelope, Foxes, Diprotodon, Turtles
Hunting Habits:
Yangchuanosaurus is an ambush predator. Waiting along game trails from midnight to noon. Chasing down its prey at a speed of over 26 mph to grab the head
of the prey item then proceeds to slam it into the ground, Snapping it's neck and causing trauma to the brain. And tears of chunks of it's prey with it's powerful jaws riddled with sharp teeth over four inches long
Mating Habits:
Yangchuanosaurus mate within a month window during the dry season. In which the male leaves the female as soon as they finish mating. The female creates a nest
and guards it until the eggs hatch. The female raises the offspring until she can no longer support it's young and rejects them. So, the offspring go they're separate ways and fend for themselves using
the skills gained from the mother.
Enemies and Natural Predators:
Charcharodontosaurus, Acrocathosaurus, Individuals of it's own kind, Yutyrannus, Megalania, other large predators
Native Tamed Yangchuanosaurus:
Most prefer to hatch a Yangchuanosaurus (from already tamed Yangchuans or from a nest in the wild) rather than tame an already wild one as it's regarded as not only difficult but it can more than likely be they're death.
Starting off by finding a wild Yanchuanosaurus and putting it asleep. Restrain it, and allow it to wake. Keeping it suppressed enough with sedatives so that it won't strong enough to break its restraints.
Offering it water and fresh corpses like procoptodons or sheep to keep it satisfied. Most of the time, it takes almost two years to gain it's trust and dependence.
Once it's tamed it can prove to be quite a formidable battle mount boasting shocking speed, agility, endurance, and ferocity. It will sure make others think twice about attacking you.
