Personality/History:
Born in the frigid mountains of Ferasa's western continent, S'io struggled to keep up with the others in her b'rrel (littermates) as she lacked the stocky and powerful physique many of her siblings shared. However, she showed she could make up for it in intellect, pulling well ahead of her peers in virtually every avenue. However, after a family vacation to an endangered species reserve on the federation world of Brentalia, S'io became fascinated with the natural world and the protection and conservation of all of the flora and fauna within it. She feverishly researched all she could about animal life from all over the federation and it was not long before a family friend introduced her to the Caitian Naturalist Society. Over the next three years, she began to do field work in lieu of the militia service required for most Caitians. By age 14 she had won the Zee-Magnee prize for her work in creating protected habitats for the gilvos of Corvan II. Despite prestigious offers from many universities, the outbreak of the Klingon War in 2405 prompted many Caitians to enter Starfleet, S'io among them. She was granted entry to the academy based on her excellent test scores, despite being two years younger than the minimum age requirement for the academy. Despite excelling academically, she had difficulty fitting in among her classmates, who tended to be intimidated and confused by her intellect and was often excluded from social circles for being too young and shy. Ironically, she did succeed in making friends athletically, as her short, light frame was well-suited for gymnastics, which she took up at a friend's suggestion during her sophomore year. She is currently struggling to adapt to life aboard a starship as she pursues her life's work, however she is beginning to find her feet with an infectious smile, and friendships with Lt. M'Rerra who has taken her under her wing, and Lt. Tijon who considers her a little sister.
