Willard Hayes again, this time with rented tux and car!
John Nunnemacher kindly featured this in his "Buffalo Wings Annual 2007", which debuted at Further Confusion in January - thanks again! :) Stylistically, I tried to emulate John's current "classic animation" style of character art: note the simple shading and stylised anatomy, in contrast to the anime-style shading and realistic musculature of the Willard Hayes sports card. Willard's face is different, too: the sports card was based heavily on John's rendition of him in "Wild Life", circa 1992, while "Homecoming" is based on Willard circa now.
I wanted a "vintage Disney" feel to the picture, hence the white spats (think Big Bad Wolf!) and the Art Noveau lettering on the card. The S-type Jaguar is modern, though! I explained to John that the picture shows a future scenario: Willard is still at Boxen U., and obviously won't attend a Homecoming dance anytime soon.
This image was hand-drawn, then scanned and rendered on Corel Photo-Paint 12.

What I tend to enjoy in this piece is the coloration used on the vehicle. That.. I hapepn to find done magnificently well.
The background..I believe is what catches me as I wonder if you took the ticket in the picture and just lowered the opacity of white over it to show the forest tree that could bleed through the transparency of it. That was a nice effect to me.
Yet all and all I happen to like this.

Yup! :) I was actually able to duplicate my drawing on Second Life - I found a vendor that sold lion avatars with an uncanny resemblance to Indra! (Instead of the "star" on his forehead, though, the avatar has light-coloured bangs on his mane where the star would be.)
One problem was getting the name right: as Second Life restricts the choice of surnames, I had to rename the character... But it's him!
