A Confederate States of America submarine that to be the first submarine to sink enemy ship, USS Housatonic using a spar torpedo during American Civil war in February 17 1864 near Charleston harbor.
She sank because of the shock wave of the exploding Housatonic and drowning all its hand.

Yup, it been used in the American Civil War. Hand cranked by 7 people.
For the cylinder at the front of the sub is the spar torpedo, it was the explosive. How do they work? They slammed the sub to the side of the enemy ship and they will back up the sub leaving the torpedo, as they backing up, the rope pull the trigger and the torpedo exploded.
