Happy birthday!

What a time to land this on, today marks ten years since Goldie was first introduced, which is also his birthday. Realizing that this was coming up, I drew him up very recently, and spent one of my days off getting him colored. He's probably one of the more basic characters that I have, yet he still took a few hours to complete.

He certainly has grown up since then, thanks to that Yoshi body of his taking off. But all of that will be shared...



Story
His Highness the First, Goldie O'Doyle, is the one of the first in line for the throne for Aunov, the Kingdom of Light, on the planetoid Ioa. He currently serves alongside his older brother Alex • sdragon01. Together with their families, they live just across from the capital in a 30-story-tall tower. He is a golden half-Yoshi half-dragon, which colors his entire body; he doesn't have the same white secondary skin color across his cheeks or down his chest like a normal Yoshi does. His birthday is August 10, 2010, making him 10 years old (as of this upload).

Goldie hatched from his egg under the care of Kye and then-girlfriend, Apple. According to Kye, he was born to a large female dragon who was hurrying to escape from somewhere or someone, he unfortunately didn't have time to ask who or why, but she couldn't handle the rest of her eggs at once, and she entrusted Kye, while on one of his adventures out from home, to care for the egg and ran off. Strangely, he never came across anyone after the dragon had fled, but he was suddenly thrust an unborn child onto him, which he quickly took home. Goldie is mostly a dragon, but he looks like a Yoshi. It was never discovered why but a likely reasoning is thanks to Ioa's magical makeup, and being taken care of by Yoshis close to his birth.

Goldie grew up to be a smart and playful child, and loved playing with his older brother Alex, and as both of them were Yoshis in some capacity, their bodies and minds grew into adulthood much like Yoshis naturally do, so while they are considered very young, their bodies matured already. Later, it was discovered that thanks to this growth spurt that he inherited his father's power of super speed, as well as being mostly dragon, he has super strength as well.

Now, Goldie tends to be an excellent problem-solver, and constantly seems to think; you might consider him a philosopher. As much as he loves the ones who took care of him, one day he aims to grow strong and capable, and travel with Alex in search of his birth mother.

Personality
Goldie is kind, helpful, but also somewhat shy and can keep to himself at times, but he will be very open and social with those he's closest with. Other times, he's usually quiet and can keep to himself, oft in his own world. He doesn't quite have that snark and cocky attitude that his father has, but he tends to be excited when the moment calls for it. Goldie enjoys reading and spending time with Alex, and their friends and Pokémon that they've caught and trained.

Appearance & Abilities
His Highness, the First is an Ioan dragon, partial Yoshi. His skin color is gold, and mimics the shimmer and shine of gold when in the light. He has near-turquoise eyes, sky blue scales behind his head, his wings are a deep blue and his claws are a creamy off-white that are present on all of his toes. He also has two large fangs sticking from his mouth.

Goldie might not look like much from a distance, but he can cover quite a bit of it in a short period of time, thanks to inheriting his father's speed and gaining super strength when he got older. He is also a natural-born Softie, meaning his body is malleable and allows him to regularly transform into other forms or objects, whether he wants to or not. This protects him from certain dangers but exposes him to new ones.

Despite his appearance and primarily being a dragon, Goldie is still a Yoshi and allows him to perform all moves and abilities of one, including a stretchy and sticky tongue, he can lay eggs with the things he eats and use them as weaponry, quickly move this legs in midair to hover for a moment (although he has wings for that), and use magical bubbles to transform into different forms.

Equipment
Goldie has never worn anything for much of his life. The only change to that was when his body matured, and he donned a long blue scarf that he ties in a reverse drape tuck. Since he is fairly short and the scarf is long, the ends of it likely can fall down past his thighs, but they don't fall far enough that they impact walking or running.

The only item of note on the scarf is the Aunova Royal Family emblem in gold, indicating his being part of the Royal Family, and allowing it to substitute for royal attire. Since he tends to wear nothing, the presence of his emblem tends to be his royal attire.

The lack of attire means that Goldie also doesn't carry any sort of weaponry or tools. He relies solely on his own strength to get by, although that could very well change before going off to explore and adventure.



I wasn't all that proud with my writing job here, but that's also the unfortunate nature of Goldie, he was kinda shelved for some time before I brought him up again in RPs with @SDragon01, but he also had presence prior in future-based stories. Figuring that a Yoshi's body matured very quickly, it only made sense to me that he and Alex grew up and matured early. They didn't have to wait another twenty years to be older and more usable, and it was very fun to get to remake him, I was very happy with how he came out. Happy birthday, Goldie!
