The next member of the O'Doyle family is one that has been lightly referenced about for years now, but I had never fallen on a proper design for her, not until sometime late last year. At that point, the rest of the pieces fell into place almost immediately, and I finally got it. Even when I drew her and colored her, I still am not entirely satisfied with what I gave her. I'm sure it will take a bit of time for new ideas to set in and then an update will come after, but I'd like to consider this a good start.
Family is an important theme to me, so something I enjoyed doing in time was developing the families of some of my characters, with Kye's family being first, and perhaps the one mentioned the most through descriptions and roleplays. In the beginning she and her husband were always background characters, or simply entities that were mentioned so you'd know they exist but you'd likely never see. But when the time came to think on them more, something just burst and now I was able to work on it even more and exercise this theme I enjoy. However, it was more of a surprise than anything else of how she would come into the light.
Her Highest Majesty, Minnie O'Doyle, is the one of the current overhead rulers of Aunov, the Kingdom of Light, on the planetoid Ioa. She currently serves this position alongside her husband, Orville, and shares the position with Wing's parents, Maple and Theodore Dragonite, and under her father, Alexander, the Elder King and stepmother, Alexandria, the Elder Queen. Together with their families, they live just across from the capital in a 30-story-tall tower. She is a sea green Yoshi, which colors her entire body; she doesn't have the same white secondary skin color across her cheeks or down his chest like a normal Yoshi does. Her birthday is May 30, 1980, making her 40 years old (as of this upload).
The daughter of a reigning king and queen, Minnie was born into royalty and grew up learning how to be proper; short and sweet, the expectations were pretty high for her, being the princess. However, as she grew older and closer to adulthood, Minnie was starting to feel limited, and craved the ability to live a freer life, outside of the palace. To be closer to the Aunova people, to be active in the community, and to hone the magic power passed down through generations of her family.
Much to the dismay of Alexandria, her husband allowed Minnie this opportunity to find herself, and requested that she receive proper training into magic. Naturally in the O'Doyle family, the princess grasped the concepts very quickly, and was even starting to experiment with that power to her own tastes, against some of the wishes of her teachers. Nevertheless, she was able to gain control of this power she had within and was able to leave the palace and explore the world as a free woman.
She became a traveler, exploring places all over the kingdom, sometimes to places that had never been graced by the presence of royalty; it was easy to say that she was very welcomed. It gave Minnie new perspective on how the kindgom handled its lands, but amazingly, really none of them had any negativity towards the ruling family.
During her travels, she found herself in a bit of a situation, introduced to a shady Yoshi who merely described himself as a doctor. He told her that he has the knowledge and research to find the sacred resting place of Ioa's power, and that her power might be able to lead them there. However, his lack of tone and demeanor was enough to tell her no, but to her surprise, the doctor would attack her with machines from all ends, as he slipped away from the scene, leaving her to fend for herself. Thankfully, this is what she trained for, and was able to use her magic and growing combat skills to fend off the robots that stood in her way, but now the mysterious Yoshi was gone...
It wasn't the last time they would meet.
Repeatedly after that day, Minnie would find herself being attacked by robots, either in small amounts, or large. Most were easy, a few were difficult, but the princess was able to hold her own very well. But one ambush was showing to be too much for her, there were too many of all shapes and sizes, and being away from civilization on this romp was proving to be her demise. That is, until a dark green Yoshi, somewhat large in size, with wings and clawed feet, leaped into action and begun slicing the robots with his sword, blocking energy shots with his shield, and when he was close enough, he picked up drones clearly larger and way heavier than him, as if they were toys, and chucking them across the battlefield until nothing was left responding.
Dusting herself off, the fellow dinosaur introduces himself as Orville, also a resident of Aunov but who lived in the mountains. He too was a traveler, an explorer, and definitely a fighter. He had made a camp nearby and invited her over to treat any injuries and give her a place to stay, which she agreed.
That night at Orville's camp, Minnie was treated for her minor injuries, and given a meal to eat with her new friend. He shares that he is half-Yoshi, half-dragon, explaining the presence of his wings, large fangs, and clawed feet that poked through his shoes. He loved to travel, explore, and help communities when he needed to with his larger size, super strength, and swordsman skills. It was somewhat interesting to meet someone who traveled for almost the same reasons as Minnie did, it was an immediate likening. The princess explained to Orville about this Yoshi she met recently, and her constant fights with robots, to which he shared that he knows of this Yoshi, known as Dr. Y, a scientist and researcher, and was also aware of his plans to find Ioa's sacred power source.
The next morning, Orville packed up his supplies and decided to join Minnie as she kept aimiessly traveling, but she was starting to grow curious as to why she was being targeted all of a sudden. None of these packs of robots were looking for her until she met that Yoshi. Orville shared with Minnie that according to Ioan tales, the sacred power source can only be activated by someone who wields the power and blood of its creator, and that the royal family was known to carry this connection. Now it was starting to make some degree of sense why she was suddenly targeted, she possessed the power necessary to give this one man the chance of world domination, something that she would use as a purpose to protect her home. Thanks to Orville's own experiences, he took her to a village known for honing the power deep within, allowing Minnie to train and research her magic even more, allowing her to grow stronger, and utilize that power in many new ways.
From this point onward, Minnie and Orville continued to travel as a pair, and was given the opportunity to meet the Yoshi-dragon's best friend, Excalibur, a wingless Dragonite who's also had his fair share of fights. Of course, as they now were together, they would once again come across Dr. Y, now knowing what he wanted, sending his best creations after the pair of travelers and always seeming to stay a safe distance away, but Minnie was now far more powerful, able to destroy armies of robots with her power. Lifting them all up at once and crushing them into a ball of metal, or unleashing a torrent of energy bullets to pierce them no matter the defense. Combine this with Orville's already impressive track record, and Dr. Y was defeated each and every time.
But through each fight, each new adventure, Minnie and Orville grew ever closer. It was a chance that they met, it grew into a friendship, and soon enough, they tied the knot, and got married, making Orville the prince, and after long, they decided to settle back home and start a family, giving birth to their only son, Kye. However, it was here that they realized a new danger: power was present in Kye, inherited from Minnie, leaving them with the tough choice of separating themselves completely from royalty and move away from Aunov to hide from Dr. Y, or risk him taking their son for his gain.
For years, she and Orville raised Kye and hid from him any clue of their time as travelers, keeping away any artifacts and items that revealed such a past, and Orville went so far as to hide his wings from view. Even when Kye grew up and discovered his super speed, and having moved to Yoshi's Island and then to the human world, the couple knew there'd be a time in the future where Kye would be old enough to learn about where he came from, so she was the one to take Kye back to Aunov and reveal to him at least that this was his home. Eventually he would bring the family back to Aunov in the form of the Silver Tower.
As the couple tried to figure out how to break this to Kye sooner than later, they would discover of commotion taking place downstairs with many of Kye's friends, receiving a message from a familiar shady Yoshi, demanding that Ioa's sacred power source, the Aurora Lights, be turned to him in exchange for Kye, his brother Sacred, and their friends and family. Dr. Y would be surprised to see Minnie and her husband walk into view, dressed as commoners, only to also surprise the onlookers that she knew exactly who he was and that he'd never get what he wanted, thrusting her handpaws to the main console of the computer and sending shockwaves through to the doctor's computer to attack him and end the call.
Knowing that her son was in danger, she donned his old attire and set out with Orville, also now with his wings back out, his sword and shield in hand, to locate their family, tearing apart any obstacle that stood in her way, until she was able to hunt down Kye and the rest of his friends and family. It was quite the suprise for him, but now working together, they located Dr. Y and put an end to his latest scheme.
After this, Minnie stepped back into royalty, now serving as the High Queen of Aunov, and returned to her time as a traveler.
Minnie is easygoing, laid-back, somewhat playful and cocky, and a bit brash, occasionally leading to moments where she can come off as reckless. Growing up, she was polite and listened to what her parents said and behaved, but growing up is where her personality begun to shift, wanting to have more freedoms as the general public would have, becoming more assertive and stern as she approached adulthood.
Now, Minnie is caring and past her somewhat tomboyish nature, she has many qualities of a mother and is willing to slow down and stop if necessary. This kind of attitude is what would help fuel Kye's, although she does know when to put her footpaw down and call it quits.
Her Highest Majesty is an Ioan Yoshi: solid sea green in color from head to toe, with no white cheeks, chest, tummy or tail to be seen. This is actually a common trait among species on Ioa, in which their appearance is slightly altered from that of the "Pure" of their species, or what many on Ioa consider to be the prime version of themselves; as such, a colored Yoshi with white on them, saddle/shell, and standard boots is known as a Pure Yoshi to Ioans. Minnie's scales on the back of her head are tri-color of orange: red-orange on the top, orange in the middle, and yellow-orange on the bottom. Her eyes are a shade of ocean blue.
Minnie is a mage, and a highly experienced one at that. While it's not entirely certain what type of magic she has control over, it has been inherited through generations of the O'Doyle family. She is able to use her magic power in a variety of ways, including levitation, psychokinesis, object and energy manipulation, elemental magic, among others.
Her most used of these powers is, as pictured, giving herself the ability to fly and allowing her to move quickly. In other cases, she might use it to lazily lounge about. She also uses it to pick up items from afar and bring them closer, such as a book on a shelf, or in combat, picking up a boulder clearly larger than herself, and thrusting it at the opposition, or pick up large amounts of water and dropping it on her surroundings. When no environmental items are available, she can use her magic to hurl fireballs, thunderbolts, or even energy that either can be taken from herself or the area around her, so long as the source is natural. Truly, what she's able to accomplish is up to the imagination, but there's only so much she can do at one time before tiring out.
Other than that, she is also physically fit and can be very mobile on her own. She is somewhat quick on her feet, and agile, allowing her to nimbly dodge oncoming attacks.
Continuing from the previous paragraph, this is also be a weakness.
The High Queen doesn't carry any tools or weapons on her part, the only thing she wears is a pair of white boots with a light pink sole, and pearls, in the form of a necklace and bracelet (not shown), along with a diamond piercing through her middle headscale that bears the gold Aunova family emblem. Because of this lack of equipment, she is able to travel light and rely on the environment when she needs it, but if she becomes unable to use her powers, she doesn't have a backup solution in the heat of the moment. Despite this, she is usually cool and collected which allows her to maneuver out of situations thanks to her mobility.
Finally got this finished. This, like my last few uploads, took a few days to finish and write up, which has once again taken a hit. My finished coloring of Minnie is also not that satisfying, I felt like I needed to design her better so perhaps that will warrant an update in the future. Anyway, thank you for reading and looking!
