Between December 2018 and up to June or July 2019, I went on a mega Pokémon phase, starting with the then-newly-released Pokémon: Let's Go Eevee → Pokémon Y → Pokémon SoulSilver → Pokémon Ultra Sun, where I am sitting in front of the final route in the game and have yet to pick it back up since. But I had just enough energy left in me to pick up and play the latest adventure released at the end of last year, Pokémon Sword.
I started the game on launch day and gave my final thoughts on it in a Twitter thread on January 12. While my opinions of Sword are very mixed, there is one thing that I certainly enjoyed about the game, and that was the multitude of Pokémon I fell head over heels with. That's really what I had to do to spark more interest into Sword as I was playing it, it was unlike the games I had played earlier in the year, in which they had been out for some time already. This prompted me to look at what data was out already for Pokémon of this generation. In other words, I spoiled what Pokémon would be up ahead, to give myself something to look forward to. It worked, for the record, a few times.
The reason I'm mentioning all this was sort of an incentive for me to try and create (and now draw) at least one character from each of these teams that I would use more often. Such a plan allowed many characters to be created as a result: , [url=https://www.deviantart.com/ikyle/art/Chocolate-Doyle-Eevee-Version-1-9-848621095]Chocolate, Cherry, Dot, and now, Oakley.
Oakley Doyle-Appletun is a member of Kyle's victorious Galar team, defeating Champion Leon on Jaunary 11, 2020, then Level 77. He is Member #4 on the team, representing the Grass-type. He was met as an Applin on Route 5 on November 17, 2019 at Level 16. This makes him, of Kyle's champion teams, Champion #34, and part of the sixth team to achieve that title under Kyle's ownership.
Oakley is, much like his nature, a gentle giant, an absolute friend, extremely nice, a bit shy, but ultimately a good boy. He usually isn't into battling for fear of hurting the opponent too much, however those fears were mostly dashed thanks to his Trainer always offering healing supplies, or being around Hop who almost always offered the same thing. The green giant loves being outdoors and going on walks or hikes somewhere, as well as camping and traveling, likely triggered during this excursion through Galar. Now that he's Champion, he wishes to let go of battling and settle, wanting to build and grow a large planation full of fruits, vegetables and berries, and enjoys cooking and baking.

"[He's] somewhat vain!"
Oakley is an Ioan Appletun: he is a grassy green with peachy-pink tones along his inner eyeflaps - which can rise up to show his dark brown eyes - as well as his cheeks, chest, stomach, down between his legs and going up and ending at the top of his tail. Unlike Pure Appletun, he is bipedal, standing on two legs and has handpaws, rather than four legs to walk around on. The large humped back of a Pure Appletun is now shifted to be even on the torso, giving Oakley a rounded appearance. He is also lacking the lattice pattern and leaves that would usually appear on his back.
Instead, Oakley continues to wear a red helmet fashioned like a split-apart apple, bearing two leaves on top, with the whole unit being removed. He wears a red collar with a silver tag on it - much like most of his teammates and Trainer wears - with his showing the shape of a pie on it. A Silver Star emblem, representing his affiliation with the Royal Family, is pinned to his apple pie-styled lattice vest on the right side. Finally, he wears dark brown pair of hiking boots with different colored laces on each: dark red for the right, and olive green for the left.
As mentioned above, Oakley is a Grass- and Dragon-type Pokémon, who is not as physically strong as he is with special attacks, so he only knows Special Attacks. He does receive a boost in physical Attack power thanks to his size and weight: he's a little more than 6' in height, and weighs around 200 pounds, making him multiple times larger than that of a Pure Appletun!
Due to a Pokémon's natural strengths and weaknesses, that makes him dread the winter and less specifically, the cold - Ice-type attacks do quadruple damage to him. He can handle it a little better than his Pure counterparts due to his extra mass, but not by much; he requires full winter gear to be comfortable out there.
Much like Boltund, Thievul, and Corviknight stole my attention during my Galar adventure with their design, Appletun quickly rose to the top with their cute design. As I said above, I spoiled the rest of the Pokédex for me to see what I'd be in for, and once I saw some of them, I made it my goal to get them all and add them to my team. Appletun is up there as one of my all-time favorite Pokémon, and is really fighting to be called my favorite Grass-type, against Sky-form Shaymin and Tropius. I suppose if there's any edge he has, Oakley got drawn before either of them have.
Anyway, thanks very much for looking and reading! I apologize for getting this out way later than it was finished, as evident by the dates in the bottom right corner, I've been kinda segmenting my sessions working on art instead of making them a one-day deal, but I'll try and work on that in the future, seeing as I'm doing it more now, and my descriptions are getting notably more... wordy. 😛
