I wiped this up over the course of the last two days. With my recent obsession of 7/8n2 scale model trains I've been looking for locomotives I'd like to build.
This isn't the first loco I want to build, but this is one I want to. I looked EVERYWHERE online for prototype refferences, but I had no luck. Oddly enough the insparation for this model is another model! A MUCH larger one!
This is based one the 7.5" (7 and one half inches) gauge live steam locomotive "Alcalde & Coalfield #9". Amazingly the model was built in a gentalman's garage completely from scratch. Here's a link showing the actual locomotive.

As a model railroad I LOVE trains that have that old time and backwoods appearence. This looks like some locomotive that would be seen working high up in the mountains, doesn't it? I have NO idea how I'll build it and unfortunately whe I drew this I ended up keeping the "Characture" look of the loco instead of translating it into something more realistic. Oh well, it's a first try after all.
Fortunately I found a set of drawings for an Austrailian locomotive. It's a 2-4-2 type, but it has uncanny similarities to A&C #9.
Oh and YAYZ!!! And this is my first Forney type locomotive! Not bad if I do say so myself.
I hope you all like it. I'm considering doing a color version, but I'm still on the fence about it.
