I wanted to draw titties, but that didn't work out.
So I dug up my little to-draw list I scribbled on a Post-It. One of the subjects were two chinese mythological characters. So instead of tatas, Imma teach you some Chinese Culture!
Every year during Hungry Ghost Festival the Gates of Hell open to let spirits out, tasting offerings and enjoying gifts burnt for them. After the month is up they're expected to return but there're those who try to escape their torment.
Oxhead and the long-suffering Horseface are Guardians who then leave the confines of Hell to seek out souls who're trying to escape.
In one of the local versions, Oxhead is a slow, fat and corrupt official who just happens to end up with the job. All bark, wimpy bite, who could be bribed with Hell Money for release. Catches spirits by throwing a chained trident.
Horseface is the strict soldier who won't let anyone go; never happy, knowing at the end of the night there're gonna be a few prostesting spirits who say they've already paid Oxhead.
A lighting practice and largely experimental piece. Tried to finish coloring in a day, but had too many hiccups that stretched into 3 days instead.
I suck at backlighting.

Good god. You really build a great atomsphere and feeling with your colouring and composition of the characters/elements. I love the fact that you wrote your name and the names of the Underworld/Hell Guardian on the wall as these paper note things. And date too...
And yes, I am a Chinese (Canadian) myself who still able to speak Mandarin and remembers quite a few Chinese history and mythology (let along with others Oriental stuff).

Great details of their clothes, very authentic looking! Oxhead's expression is perfect, just the attitude you'd expect from a self-important blowhard. The gate to Hell opening up in mid-air is the dramatic clincher, totally garbs your attention. What do the paper notes on the wall translate to?
