Hey, I'm not sure if the issue has been resolved but I've been an aquarist basically a good portion of my life. Cloudy water is typically a sign of an unestablished/un-cycled tank, and the result of a "good" bacteria bloom during the cycling process. Good bacteria consume ammonia into nitrites, then into nitrates, etc (the Nitrogen cycle). If you already know this just dismiss my message, you have a cute snail.
Bacteria blooms can happen in a fish-in (such as the snails) or a fishless cycle (using pure ammonia or fish food, for example). They are typically harmless and mean that the tank is somewhat done cycling. These can also occur if you put too much food in at once, or the tank needs a change.
