IT IS AN EDSEL! Some say it's ugly but I think it was a beaut. The hood ornament isn't bad either.

T'was never a bad car. It just had the worst timing in the history of new model introductions.

Take a close look at the grill. Guys used to kid Edsel owners about that design feature. Started a lot of fist fights due to comments of it looking like a Pussy in heat

The other nickname was The Chrome Toilet Seat according to my late father who was a bit of a car buff. I gotta admit he did have some odd choices in personal cars.. Late 1960s Leyland Rover sedan, AMC Matador and Pacer in the 1970s.

I know, did get unghodly hot in the Texas sun on vacation to South Padre Island in 1976 - sun melted a few items, I think that curved glass acted like a magnifying lens. Mom hated the car because the gas tank would slosh - we traded it on a Oldsmobile the next year. Oh yes, I do remember it came with a bad battery, we bought it off the dealership floor, took it home, packed. Next morning it wouldn't start. Neighbor checked the battery, found a dead cell it in. Jump started it. Off we went to the AMC dealer who kept telling my dad the battery was okay and they wouldn't change it. Dad got made, told Mom to take my brother and I off to one side. Dealer when what for? Dad said "I bought the damn thing off the sales floor and I'm going to put it back in, thru the glass. Dealer gulped and gave us a new battery. Not much in the way of warranties back then

Sounds like the dealership was honoring a warranty just not the kind of warranty that was intended to be honored.

Frankly they figured out that Dad was serious about putting that Pacer - 2 tone tan with Indian Blanket design upholstry back in the showroom via the window... Datsun and Toyota started the Warranty stuff in the auto industry. 1970s US car companies, never heard of it.

Ya know, I actually like Edsel's, even if they were not popular back in the day and didn;t last. I like that unique nose. Foxes, squirrels and classic cars/vehicles for me. Maaaaaaaybe cats and bunnies as well.
