So, this is the character waiting behind the door from the Meeting Up image before, and one of the biggest information brokers in the Bay Area: Jyuki. Jyuki runs a small tea house out of an old mansion at the southern side of San Francisco, and uses the privacy expected of such a place to conduct her business.
Whatever Huntress had been expecting, this was not it. The door that led out back was low enough that she had to duck to get through it. The area she saw was small enough to be cozy, a patch of scraggly grass surrounded by hedges almost as tall as she was. A low table sat on the ground in front of her, with a polished black wooden tray on one side that carried two pots, a whisk, a scoop, and a hand-thrown bowl. Sitting in the middle of the table was a narrow vase made from a piece of bamboo, with a stick inside it that bore a single white flower. And just to the side of the table was a stand which held up a red umbrella, just barely large enough to cover the table itself, leaving the people exposed to the elements.
But it was the figure on the other side of the table that got Huntress' attention. She'd seen vixen biosculpts before; when the technology had first become available, it had been one of the more popular forms. This one was different. For one thing, most of the vixens she'd seen were better built than this relatively androgynous form, though the kimono she was wearing could be hiding a lot. And for another, she'd never seen a vixen with several tails arrayed in a fan behind her.
Training for infiltration work was about all that kept her from staring. One of the first lessons for that was 'act like you belong there, and most people will believe you do'. With a careful glance at Deedee, Huntress bowed to her host, then settled down, folding her legs underneath her as she sat.
Once they were all seated, the vixen began her work, without a word. First, she held out a small container in both hands to Deedee. The mouse bowed to the vixen, bowed in part to Huntress, then set the container down and took out from her kimono a folded piece of paper just like the one she'd given Huntress. She took a chunk of something from out of the container, set it down on her paper, then held out the container to Huntress.
Huntress bowed to her, turned and bowed to her host figuring it was the best thing to do, then mimicked Deedee's movements in taking the sheet of paper and placing a piece on it before handing the container back to the vixen.
A small silk cloth appeared in the vixen's hand as if from nowhere, and she cleaned off the tools in front of her. She scooped a small amount of a fine powder from one small pot into the bowl, poured water from the larger pot into the bowl, then picked up the whisk and began to stir the tea with it.
Huntress found herself fascinated by the woman's movements. She'd heard about the 'tea ceremony' before, but she'd never been involved in one directly. She did have some martial arts training, though, and she could tell that the movements of the vixen's hands were very well practiced.
Once the tea was ready, the vixen held the bowl out to Deedee, who bowed to her, and then to Huntress as well, before turning the bowl and sipping lightly from it. She ran her fingers over the edge of the bowl to clean it off, and then passed it to Huntress, who repeated the motions as well as she could.
Finally, when the tools were cleaned off again and the ceremony was finished, the vixen smiled to them both and broke the relative silence. "It is a pleasure, as always, to see you again, Deedee. Though I presume business is to be discussed?"
