Koz is seriously injured, but it's not the sort of wound that kills quickly. He's got a couple hours at least before the hospital becomes urgent. If his former girlfriend really was concerned with not violating the Rules rather than protecting Jinjur.

I don’t know why Fred’s smiling. Didn’t he say it would be best if Jinjur died during the duel? Keeping her alive and defeated would only make her more dangerous.

Kathy making the classical tactical blunder of assuming that survival was a fate worse than death and not killing her opponent. Especially when her opponent is a classical Disney-esque no-redemption villain like Jinjur. Who, at least the audience knows, has already planned on blowing up the reception.
So yes, big moment. Enormous moment, actually. Jinjur's just lost a huge amount of face in everyone's eyes. She's been publicly humiliated. Kathy's being showered with the adoration due the victor. But that's not going to discourage Jinjur.. that's just going to make her eventual revenge all the more important to her.
But that doesn't mean the show's over. We just got the Second Act Climax (at least it looks like Fred did...), we still have the whole third act to go. Buckle up everyone, this is gonna be a *ride*.

Hmmm... But the duel wasn't to the death. If Kathy did kill Jinjur, it would look bad on her. People would obey her out of fear, rather than love. And fear only works so long as you can maintain it, as Jinjur is no doubt going to soon find out. Also, the pain and burn of humiliation is far worse than the momentary pain then nothingness of death. What's more, is Jinjur will never live this down. Even if she overthrows Kathy or beats her another way, there's always going to be guards whispering "Remember when she got her ass handed to her in under five minutes by that NewYak she-yeena?"
But that's just my opinion.

who says you need to be a despot? Machiavelli says you should not rely on being loved but be feared as a fair but also strict leader. You can be a good leader but also strict. I would prefer to be more of a strict ruler, bringing stability to my country, be benign where I could and be strict where I must. For sure you also must make sure not being hated. But I guess she will be doing good. Jinjur for sure is ruling through fear and is also hated. For sure being an example of a despot
I love Cathy's expressions here, nice work on panel 3 with the blurring in the background our focus is solely on her. What I think is fantastic is the quick turn around and you use the POV circles to show the variety of reactions from everyone. That is wonderfully done KD. I think Fred has found his inner child of respect and admiration too. She really does love him. The morale never gloats till the fight is over and don't talk trash about Cathy's Fred. Now Cue the triumphant music. Would Rocky be appropriate since she used her fists and not the sword? Brilliantly done KD😀⭐⭐⭐⭐👏👏👏👏🙌🙌👍
