Technically "Burmecian" just describes where they're from, actually. Just pointing out.

I don't think it does though, at least not when I last saw it. In fact, the site even notes that in the Japanese version of the game, the entire species is "Nezumi", which is literally just Japanese for "rat". "Burmecian" is a description of where they're from, ie. Burmecia, as opposed to the Cleyrans, rat people who live in the nearby Cleyra. People often use "Burmecian" as the species name because no other version of the game gave them an actual species name and it's just easier. Hope that clears things up a bit better.
