Hmmm...ideas....
A handful of giant monsters sprout all over Earth, and they destroy a lot of buildings, impervious to damage. Remarkably, though, nobody is hurt, not even pets. When they're finished, the monsters suddenly stop and address everyone, telling them how the terrible damage they've caused represents the damage the people have caused to the environment. After everyone comes to a consensus that they need to do a better job of helping the environment prosper, the monsters begin to use their magic and reverse the damage they did.
But then, aliens come over seeking to conquer Earth, and they want to do away with all those dreadful cities--they take great offense with the architecture and infrastructure. The aliens take out all of Earth's heavy weaponry using their technology, neutralizing even the worst nukes, and threaten both the people and the monsters. (The monsters are enchanted in such a way that, while no Earth creature can harm them, they cannot harm any Earth creature.) Things are looking grim as weapons are pointed at all.
Then the monsters and people come up with a scheme. The monsters tell the aliens that they will destroy Earth's cities for the aliens, in exchange for their lives--they hate the people for what they've done, after all. Besides, those weapons of theirs must take a lot of resources, and there are so many people to kill, so much to destroy...could they really do it all without having to make two trips? The aliens, seeing the damage these monsters have already caused, agree. The monsters then begin demolishing the cities one by one, but slowly, since they need to give the people and other monsters time to make and execute a plan to defeat the aliens.
When the aliens seem to be getting suspicious at how slowly things are going, the monsters realize they have to step it up just a little. Thus, the game is to keep destroying at a decent rate, and your health bar is the aliens' trust. You need to stomp and smash to the rhythm and beat to keep up the charade and keep them from figuring out their trick. Clear city blocks while clearing stages in the most bombastic distraction Earth has ever seen!
...Or something, I dunno.
