Happy New Year everyone! To keep this holiday spirit up, today we are releasing version 0.3.2 of Identity for you all to enjoy!
This version brings a myriad of story changes, artwork and music additions, as well as lots other features and usability improvements!
You can download it here! Follow the link for further details.
Identity is a non-linear, horror/mystery visual novel with a plot based around the premise of self-rediscovery.
You take on the role of a scalie fellow who wakes up with no recollection of himself or anything else.
Fortunately, you meet some odd people who are willing to help you, apparently old friends and some new acquaintances.
Try to find out who you were, whatever caused you to wake up blank, and form new bonds and memories meanwhile.
And if you can't uncover your old self, you may still form your own, new Identity!

That might be due to both the artist's style and the close perspective that the side images are shown in, which cuts off some of the key reference points used to tell body build and posture. So for instance with his happy side image, he may try to appear confident and pump his chest forward a little, but that might translate into him looking a bit more buff than he is.
Nevertheless, we will analyze this further and if needed we will adjust his side sprites a bit more to try to reduce this perception. He is still a normal twink wearing baggy clothes :P

This is really cool! I played an earlier version sometime back, but I see it's come a long way since, I'm rather enjoying it. I gotta say, Yarin's appearance there is pretty great, haha. When I first saw it, I was like "Oh! I'm cute!" Haha~
Out of curiosity, do you like hearing speculation? I'd guess that you guys have your story planned out pretty well, but after getting through the main story (as far as is available in the public version, that is), I was pondering on it a bit. Just wondering, and obviously I wouldn't expect to hear confirmation if I am on to something or way off, but just wondering if that would be something that is interesting to hear, or not really, haha.
Either way, game is looking real cool~

You're quite welcome!
So, spoiler warning I suppose, for anyone else browsing these comments, since pondering stuff that comes up later on.
So, when I went through the game, I primarily hung out with Brym, and obviously, he says you did some really really mean stuff prior to losing your memory and all. Like, solid asshole status overall, some of it entertaining, but some of it really mean!
And in the aftermath of browsing Mindalu's suite, and figuring out what her plan was (circulating the ashes through the vents and all, and the amulets to 'catch' spirits), I was kinda thinking... what if it worked? Like, already had worked. I mean, the only thing we, as the player, have to go off of for our former identity (no pun intended, but of course... it's kind of the whole core of the matter anyway, haha) is what we hear from Brym, and to be honest (unless certain dialogue options can make you waaaaay more of an asshole), it kinda sounds like being a completely different person than what you used to be.
Sure, we have the memory loss as a possibility to explain the drastic personality shift, but with no past to speak of, who's to say we didn't actually wake up as Reyus, just with no memories, and simply being told from everyone else that we're Yarin? I mean, we have a magical amulet that won't go away, and that was sorta the crux of Mindalu's whole possession idea, so clearly there is something weird going on and all.
Honestly, I could entirely imagine a scene where that exact question comes up, with us talking to Brym about it. I mean, that'd be a pretty scary thought to think that you might not be who you've been told you are - that maybe Yarin really did 'die' and you're actually someone else entirely, simply inhabiting his body. Or maybe he's not dead, and you could go back to being him? But then is that even really better, considering all of what Brym has said about your former self? It's a pretty rough thought, haha.
Anywho, that's my theorizing over with, haha. Obviously there are some ideas already in place, maybe as more of those dream snippets come to light, I'll find I was completely off, but yeah... just was musing on it, and thought I'd babble a bit, and this seemed as good a place as any to do so.
Regardless, looking forward to seeing more from ya's, and it's definitely got me wondering. Excellent work so far~ <3
Edit: Adjusting a little for clarity/further thoughts.

So I don't know if this is an issue or not. The day after Mindalu tries to do her thing, I do my free time activity like normal, but when it goes back to the lobby screen, nothing happens. There's a text box but nothing goes in it, and fast forward is disabled. Is that just the end of the build?
Hey there! Admittedly, our game is still early in development, and as we highlighted on our Roadmap for 2021 post, our goal for this year is to bring the existing game content to a more polished state by the end of the summer. This means adding the exploration phase of dating content for each dateable character, refactoring all of the existing dialogue to correct past mistakes in writing style and story direction, and adding more artwork and audio to make the game feel better to play. After the summer, we will continue writing more of the story's plot and dating content and bring subsequent updates hopefully with a better level of polish from the get-go.
