This is a piece of art that I had some fun with, but ultimately drew too large and ran out of room at the top of the page. You can see some of my own flaws here, in particular the flatness of the human's forearm. I like the way the lines suggest the folds in clothing, though, and I am mostly pleased with the foreshortening of the cougar's paw.
This piece will get erased soon, I'm sure. Gideon's work continues to intrigue me, for many reasons. The subtleties of facial expression are still something I want to delve into in greater detail. I have been enjoying the studies I've done, and I feel that I'm beginning to understand intuitively where various lines should go in a character. Drawing my own pieces is a nice idea, and my last attempt was more pleasing than I expected, but I don't believe I'll be drawing what I want to in the very near future. I need to make more time to draw, though I'm sure my lack of effort is linked to my doubts about the success this type of study will bring me.
Again, any suggestions would be welcome from my beloved audience. I can honestly say both that I would love to get Gideon into an Open Canvas session, or at least a dialog about techniques, but I can also honestly say that I'm terrified to do so. I feel that my skill at examining pieces and understanding which parts make them what they are is great enough that I could indeed benefit from such a thing, but we all know about Fanboy Syndrome, and how it can affect someone like myself who is trying to make friends of the more advanced artists out there.
