Bumbie the Famous Bee-Tective and Comic Book, 2 January 2...
So I ran across this minor character from Archie/MLJ Publications, from the early 40s: Bumbie the Famous Bee-Tective. I can't find much about him, but there's an appealing story in Jolly Jingles #15 --- https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=70639 starting on page 35 --- featuring the character. This scene's from the second page of that. In the sort of metatextual story that was very much my thing as a kid, and today, the story you are reading appeals for help in overcoming the villain, who's doing nasty things like kicking the heroes out of the story. Bumbie volunteers to save the day in a story that starts without a fourth wall and proceeds from there in ways you'd expect out of those Casper the Friendly Ghost stories where he pals around with Mr Harvey himself.
