This is the best picture that we have (as far as I could find anyway), of our Rottie mix, Baby. She was put down 6/11/2010 at 9:30-10:00 AM and she was 12 years old.
My mom had made the decision last night while she was at work to put her down. She made the arrangements this mornin' at our vet, she already paid for the euthanasia, and as she came home, she called me up and told me to get her ready. I woke
up and told him to get dressed.
By the time I went down to the livin' room, I knew my mom had been cryin'. I didn't need to hear her, or to see her face or the washcloth in her hands. I knew it was time. Kogy came down, and he knew what was about to happen. My mom said that we didn't have to go, but we went anyway. Kogy and I made the mistake of not bein' there when it was Bell's time. We weren't goin' to make that mistake again.
Kogy went to let Beast in and my mom and I lifted our old girl up into the back of the truck. After Kogy locked up, we got in the truck, me and him sittin' in the back, pettin' Baby while my mom drove to the vet.
After we arrived, mom and I helped Baby out of the back of the truck and Rich and I took her into the office and into the back room. My mom couldn't deal with it so she stayed in the truck, cryin'.
Kogy and I lifted her up onto the back table and as our vet injected her in the back leg, we held her and spoke to her. Within a matter of seconds she was gone. She had gone to play with her sister, Bell (lab/shepard mix), her little nephew Foo (kitten), and her niece Kirara (Hamster).
Our vet left us alone in the back, we said our good-byes and I closed her eyes.
I know she's not really gone, that she's right next to me with the rest of her four-legged family.
