Portain is a small fishing village—with roughly 150 inhabitants—in the archipelago south of Dagune, very nearly on the sultry tropic of Akaben, and far too small to show on the map of the rest of Talamhir: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31493852/.
This model is set a little in the future of the country (maybe half a century or so after https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35158894/, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34873723/, and https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34321539/...but easily a few thousand years earlier than https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33854413/), when the steampunkish technology has developed into more dieselpunkish lines. Magic still plays a part in the culture, but the development of better engines have resulted in the construction of grand liners, tanker ships, and various aeroplanes that flit about the air and seas. Thankfully, languid and luxurious airships still have their place as well.
A small depot in the shadow of the "big rocks," as the locals call the towering limestone karsts, is the only representative of the re-expanding Xiongzhu Empire, but has become an anchor point for travel and trade in the region.
Base is roughly 6"x9", acrylic paint over scratchbuilt model.
Note: the little propeller shapes in the "ocean" are pads to magnetically anchor the various vessels in different positions. I'm working on making my models more flexible these days.
