Background: One could say that Matthew had a bad childhood. Bullied at school, yelled at home, he grew isolated.His father was often too busy with his work to give him attention, and his mother was slightly off her medication. He spend majority of his time reading and doing little researches. Because he was short and physically weak, he was constantly targeted by school bullies, many of them being girls. This resulted in what seems to be a phobia towards females. When he was 13, his father got in an accident, rendering him unable to walk. Slowly, he became aware of Matthew's hardships in school and home, as well as his severe lack of confidence. To encourage his son, Marcus suggested something unexpected. Stories of the champion-forging PokeCombatAcademy was not unheard of in Blackthorn City, and was just what needed to get the little boy all excited.

Battle style: Matthew is small and weak, but far from harmless. Ever since his poochyena days, he's been a fast runner. And what comes to handling the "antimateria" dark types conjure, he is a genius. Even before getting into PCA, he practised the use of his quick feet and the materialized darkness, altough the latter wasn't intented for combat back then.
Matthew usually attacks from below, so watch your feet when fighting him. He can also endure surprisingly heavy blows before hitting ground.
