The lick I imagine is an expression of gratitude and affection towards her rescuer and I expect Tial would probably also consider that with the kobold being slightly concussed it's not as though she can really be considered responsible for her actions.
Ozzy would be rather adorable with her being so cheerful, playful and full of energy though I suppose it can get rather tiring. Maybe if Demi was around Maru could persuade him to play with/look after the kobold for a while?
