“Thank you. For everything.” Blis said, looking up at Abraxas, with flushed cheeks.
“You’re welcome, little angel.” The Demon Lord responded, reaching out to gently caress Blis’ silky hair.
Another month had passed since Blis had come into Abraxas’ care. Now that Blis had returned to near-perfect health, however, it was time for him to return to his life as an angel. Though Abraxas did not want to let the angel go, he knew that the longer he was in Hell, the more his light would diminish and the harder it would be for Blis to leave. Still, it hurt Abraxas in a way that he had never felt before. There was a throbbing in his chest, and the more he thought about Blis not being in his bed when he returned to his palace made him feel emotions he didn’t even know he was capable of. Never once had Abraxas felt this way about another being. Even the valuable members of his harem were replaceable, but a pang in the vicinity of his heart told him that Blis leaving would make him miserable.
It was strange, because unlike the members of his harem, Abraxas had not even been physically intimate with Blis. They would talk at length, and Abraxas had kissed the angels head, but that was the extent of their relationship, an odd Doctor x Patient relationship at most. There had been one intimate dream, very intimate, for Abraxas, but he hadn’t told anyone about that, especially not the angel standing in front of him. Something about how pure and fragile Blis seemed made Abraxas want to protect him, even from his own carnal desires.
“You’re welcome to visit whenever you wish.” Abraxas said, brushing a finger lightly down the angel’s rosy cheek, before adding, “just make sure either Alis escorts you, or send a messenger first and I shall escort you myself.”
“M-maybe.” Blis answered, offering him a bashful smile that did little to hide the shudder that ran down his thin frame.
Abraxas knew that Blis would have traumatic memories from his time here. Only the angel knew what torment he endured before Abraxas came to his rescue. There had been a few times that Abraxas asked Blis to divulge information about his capture and imprisonment, but even thinking about it seemed to cause the angel great pain, so after a short time Abraxas stopped asking. He couldn’t very well punish his General, who according to the laws of Hell, did nothing wrong, but he would still get the information from him later…painfully if necessary.
The Demon Lord stepped forward, just slightly, and placed his hands gingerly on the angel’s shoulders.
“You will never have to fear being in my territory ever again, and you should consider being in my castle as safe as being in Heaven itself.” Abraxas said softly, looking down into Blis’ eyes.
“Thank you, Abraxas.” Blis responded, a serene
smile lighting up his face.
“All right, all right….” Alis, who had been standing nearby, said with exasperation.
The incubus stepped forward then and gently swatted Abraxas’ hands off of Blis’ shoulders.
“We need to go before someone sees.” Alis said, giving Abraxas a brief wave before placing his own hands on Blis’ shoulders and gently pulling him away.
Blis looked extremely embarrassed, and gave Abraxas one more quick smile and a wave before being pulled away. Alis grabbed the angel’s hand, and the two spread their wings. With one glance behind them, they both prepared to take off. Before they could lift off, Abraxas walked forward with long strides, almost running, and embraced Blis. It was a brief hug, accompanied by a kiss on the head, and then it was over. Abraxas stepped back a safe distance and gave a rare genuine smile, though it was barely noticeable, and a wave. Blis and Alis both smiled and Blis gave one last wave before Alis gently squeezed his hand and the two flew up and out of Hell.
Abraxas watched until his eyes could no longer see the light that resonated off of Blis, and then turned toward the direction of his castle. Already he wanted to see the angel again and the throb in his chest grew more pronounced. One day, Blis would choose to visit him of his own free will, and that thought helped to ease the throb for now.
