Collab of sorts with
phantasmagora I commissioned her to redesign an old character of mine and it came out great. A couple of you might recognize this character but he looks quite a bit different now. I love his design now, she pretty much got what I wanted with his species of creature dead on.
I will try to provide a description without spoiling much of the story, he appears very late on in the plotline.
This is me first think ever done in Sai.
"Ayades is a member of a species called Sandileons. They posses a cunning intellegence, nomadic Civic Moreau tribes tell folktales often speak of Sandileons leading foolish young hunters into traps, or digging up the water stores of arrogant tribes in the desert to teach them a lesson. Sandileons are naturally loners(like the tigers of our own world). This is likely because of their huge size that they need a large hunting territory, lest they deplete the recourses in an area. Sandileons are rarely seen by Civic Moreau, especially Citydwellers and even more rarely seen in groups. They are uncommonly, rather than rarely, seen by Tribal Civic Moreau. There are no known records of Sandileons ever being domesticated. Sandileons are warm blooded and bear live young.
They have two sets of eyes and two barbels on their chin which glow dimly. They can cause their barbels to 'flash' like a firefly to communicate with others of their species over long distances. They use this flashing to convey messages, attract mates, and sometimes even attract prey. Some scholars have tried to study the flashings to try and learn the subtle language but such attempts have divulged little since Sandileons are such elusive creatures field study is difficult. Their 'manes' are fleshy and have the same consistency of the tendrils of a sea anemone
Sandileons are evolved as carnivores but will devour anything.
Most Sandileons are tan or light redish in color but Ayades(character here) sports a bright golden hue, this is culturally significant to the Moreau of the Pareidolian Protectorate and the Southernlands. Beasts of golden color are seen as to be as omens, messengers of Deities, and other things of such significance. [Spoilers Removed] Ayades will allow Moreau to ride him if he deems them 'worthy' enough. He can run very fast, up to 50mph, and can maintain this speed for a good amount of time. Ayades is a very mysterious character who is very intelligent, even for his species. It is unknown whether or not he can speak, but he seems to understand Moreau speech. It almost seems that the creature is working for higher powers at play, or perhaps it is the incarnation of some trickster deity, manipulating events in its own favor.
Note: He does not put on the decorations himself. Moreau of a certain faction do but I will not say who. Sometimes they paint his body with red symbols too 8D

Oooh you coloured him! I'm glad to see you're using SAI, I bet it's a lot easier than Open Canvas, eh? SAI is great for inking, the best way to bring stuff in is by importing a .psd, as similar to OC, some of the files opened in SAI not saved as a .sai format are downgraded to 72dpi.
Nonetheless, It's great to see you're enjoying the design! I had so much fun drawing him.
