Something has captured the attention of a young snow leopard cub (Panthera uncia) at the Toronto Zoo.
Snow leopard cubs, like cubs of other big cats, have an insatiable thirst for discovery; however, this is expressed differently between individuals. Some cubs will approach new experiences with trepidation, others will be so adventurous as to cause their mother extreme stress. In any case, it is an immense privilege to be able to see cubs like this one explore their world and take in so many new sights, smells and sensations.
We could take a page out of their book... life should be lived to the fullest and there is a great big world out there for us to explore. After all, curiosity is the currency of adventure.

Snow leopards are found in mountainous central Asia, also called "the roof of the world". They are acclimated for some of the harshest terrain and climate in the world and are extremely elusive. Sadly, snow leopards are not elusive enough to escape the hand of man. They are an endangered species and there may be as few as 3,000 left in the wild with populations decreasing. Individuals are often the victims of revenge killing after taking village livestock, poaching for their bones and skin, prey depletion and habitat loss.
