I had commissioned this amazing piece to put up on my Yum Chat page as a farewell with the chat room closing down after 20 years.
However, the chat room will now not be closing, as it has found a new owner to take over for me.
I still felt the need to share this artwork, even if is no longer relevant to the situation, and want to thank Valery for doing such a fantastic job on it. <3

That's a really impressively done picture, even if it is rather melancholy. I hadn't even heard about that, it's good that you found someone to take over running it for you. YumChat was my vore-igin, as it were the first place I dipped my little clawed toes into the pool of roleplay for this particular fetish. So it holds a special place in my heart even if I don't super often visit any chats anymore.
If you think the picture is melancholy, be glad I didn't need to put the solemn farewell message that was going to go with it.
It's something I had been thinking about for a while, but wanted to give it until the 20th Anniversary back in September, at which time there was 4 months remaining on the Host Server plan, so decided to keep going through the New Year. I'm glad that it won't be shutting down, even though I won't be running it any longer.
It wasn't the first place I RPed vore, but it was the first place I would call home online, and meet so many wonderful people and make dozens of friends.
I really can't imagine where my life would be now, if not for Yum Chat and all of those who I have met there. I always feel so fortunate for that time.

Unfortunately, I've been the same way; with my normal work week being 10 hours a day, 5 days a week.
It's difficult to find the 3-6 hours in the evening, which a good RP will require, when you simply don't have that kind of free time.
And then when I do finally have some free time, seeing an empty chat room. :(

I was so sad to see the post you made about it, and I'm so glad it will remain open. I admit I've only logged in every few months for the past many years, and never stick around long. I think back fondly to the long nights I spent there that stretched deep into the mornings. I made connections in those chats that lead me to where I am now, in fact to how I met the man who's now my husband. You always did wonderful work and Yum Chat will always be a fond memory for me.
It's so wonderful to hear of the happiness that has followed you from those early days in the chat. That really does give true meaning to the term fond memories. :)
And yeah, I had never actually pulled an 'all-nighter' anywhere but in Yum Chat. Even in college I couldn't find a reason to do so; yet it was so easy to lose sleep in order to hang out and have fun with friends in the chat room. ^_^

I'm sure that back in the day, you would have enjoyed it.
It had a much different feel from IRC (though that's where some of the commands such as /me and /quit were stolen from), but it still had that same sense of spontaneous fun. It was just nice to have a place anyone could simply enter from a web browser, without the need to download any other programs.

Definitely. I remember dealing with MUCKs a good bit in my early days, and, just having a browser thing would have been much easier, for sure. XD Probably just as well though, I was pretty immature at the time. I mean, I think I'm probably still pretty immature, but... teen years and all.
The end of an era... well, not quite, but it still feels like it. Your contributions to the chat and the community have been incredible, vast, and in many cases, life-changing. Thank you for helping mold a place where we could safely explore this side of ourselves and meet others who share our interests.
