Smart idea to build a house/resort in such a place, since it keep the house more safer from the elements and possible avalanches. The natural support pillar may erode with time, but it can be replaced/repaired/restored. As far as food service or going out into town things goes: Either there is another shallow cave with a helicopter landing pad, or just use an underground 2-way tunnel for fast car access to the city/main road...the latest idea isn't that far fetched even.
