The shrunken down of this really does it no justice...
As if it didn't take me long enough... so today marks the completion of a piece that took me nearly 11 days, I think, to do but I feel like it was worth it. I mean I barely ever get the chance to push myself in this sort of direction, to sit and work on one piece for what feels like forever, yet even then wonder "Am I missing something..." which kind of forces me to involuntarily ponder on the consequences of the next piece, whatever that might be.
What was the inspiration for this one? Well it's been well over a year since I joined FA and I thought critically about what it was that got me so in tuned to wanting to do artwork here and I remember that long ago when I browsed around in some galleries and coincidentally came across
lei-lani
I'd never thought of drawing an otter anthro before and as it seemed through so many others who'd come across her character they seemed inspired too. Well for me it hit a certain spot, I've not quite fully considered what it might be or how it got me going but I'm glad it did. Plus I thought about how much fun I had to sit down and work on something over a long period of time so this was a favor to myself all in all.
Lastly, it got me thinking about a little background behind this piece, another addition into Juju's life story and how significant this event turned out to be. While I would go into the liberty of extending into a long narrative; I'd rather you took a look at this piece as a prelude up to this one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2310289/ which was done up just over a year ago from when I joined here and the reason this rather large piece was made.
I imagine somewhere in the universe Juju exists in, sea mammal/small bird-penguin avian anthros and such reside somewhere in the Pacific, like Hawaii or something but not quite Hawaii...
I really hope I don't have to go back in to touch this one up LOL
Now I said I wouldn't add a story in this but I couldn't get over the two rather large Samoanesque brutes hovering over Juju as the rest of the crowd clamors in, and of course
lei-lani with some other sea otter femme strolling by to inspect the newcomer being mysteriously accepted by the locals.

"Wala ka'se ma'aoa!" (He surfs like a dolphin!)
"Oe. Tikaloa boa'ao." (Yeah. Maybe he's half.)
"Ne'e... Boaka Yowa?" (No way... what about the cat ears?)
"Oe'ee..." (Oh yeah...)
"Maka'ae hu'solua!" (Let's have the girls check for us!)
"WAHAHAHA!"
"Ho'o komo laua..." (Follow my lead...)
"Hey brudha you doin' anything later?"
=Juju= "Not really, why?"
"Good! You havin' a drink with us, then! Get you introduced to all the ladies on the island, eh!"
=Juju= "Seriously?"
"Kahlua soma'kae Yowa!"
=Juju= "What's that mean?"
"Kahlua all up in your ass, cat ears!"
