How can he do that ?

Wisp is a creature called a Familiar. They're originally formless but are giving forms based on the subconscious of the mage they for a contract with. A contracted familiar is giving 2 forms the first is the "Sealed Form" this form reduces them amount of mana being fed from their contracted mage, while "Awakened Form" is more taxing on the Mages mana but offers increase battle capabilities.

Love the subtle marking differences on him and the awakened form!
