Digging around the public domain cartoon vault, here's something from Ajax-Farrell's August 1957 Spunky the Smiling Spook #1 ... a story featuring of course Spunky the ... Kangaroo. Who is not a ghost of any kind. Oh, there's a ghost on the cover of https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=77201 ... but Spunky the Ghost isn't in issue #1. Nor in issue #2, for that matter; he finally appears in the third issue. Spunky the Non-Ghost Kangaroo is instead a joey who disregards his mother's warnings about playing with fire in a story that starts on page 15 of 36 and proceeds, by way of this panel on page 16, to turn out pretty close to a parody of this kind of story. Artist unknown but it was someone who figured kangaroos should go for nice strolls rather than hopping everywhere.
