1 cup pre-sweetened Kool-Aid, your favorite flavor
2 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon salt
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
Cream shortening, butter, sugar, and Kool-Aid together with a mixer. Add eggs, combine well. In a separate bowl, sift together remaining ingredients and add carefully to sugar mixture. Mix well. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Roll dough carefully to ¼ inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 375° for 7-10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. Royal Icing
1 box confectioners' sugar (1 pound)
5 tablespoons meringue powder or 2 large egg whites
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine sugar and meringue powder. Mixing on low speed, add a scant 1/2 cup water. For a thinner consistency, usually used for flooding, add more water. A thicker consistency is generally used for outlining and adding details. Mix until icing holds a ribbon-like trail on the surface of the mixture for 5 seconds when you raise the paddle.
