The four cougar siblings that had been at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo since 2007, I believe it was, have all now passed. It's with a heavy heart I move on and see the new inhabitants of their home. These are young cats, some are siblings, one died last year. So there's already tragedy there. The most recent addition is younger yet, as you can see from the photo.
Please welcome the newcomers to the zoo. They're adorable, as cougars tend to be. The youngest has a special spot in my heart, but the one on the left just has that face. I wonder if they'd want a snow leopard for a friend. ^.^
This was taken while at the zoo on December 31, 2020. Visitation is limited with pre-purchase of tickets and a set time slot required. That is if they're still open to visitors. With things as they've been, even the limited fashion in which they are open might not last. Let's hope for the best. Places like this require visitors to keep going. They do a lot toward conservation and maintaining bloodlines of various endangered species. Unfortunately, I think they de-sexed all the poor cougies. I know, right? Now they're really just big house cats. I still don't think I can haz them though. Seriously, don't try to keep a cougar. It's probably a bad idea. I'm just musing in that cub-like way we all probably did when we dreamed of having big cats in our homes. Tell me you didn't! Ha, well, enjoy the photo. I'll be sharing more soon.
