Auuugghh... where to begin. I honestly think I'm just going to write an "Everything That's Wrong with BMFM2006" essay that I can link to everytime it comes up in my descriptions. One of my biggest, underlying complaints is how the reboot wasn't true to the integrity of the characters, and Harley didn't get off easy.

I have a love-hate relationship with Harley2006. Part of me thinks it was a total disgrace to her original character, and the other part of me feels generally sorry for her, and sees why she turnd out the way she did. I think my soft spot for her is largely in part because she reminds me of my "Road Rovers" OC, Clandestiney, who was Hunter's first wife, and comes back seeking revenge; driven mad by what she perceived to be abandonment and rejection when she doens't know the full story of what happened. In much the same way, Harley is the same. She waited almost ten years in a prison camp for Vinnie to rescue her, only he never came. All she knows is is that a decade passed and no one came for her. She is unable to accept the explanation that Vinnie and the rest of the Freedom Fighters spent many years searching for her, and Vinnie, pretty much against his wishes, had to be pulled from the search as there were other situations in need of the Freedom Fighters' attention.

I don't like Harley's new design at all ( augh, the mohawk, the mmmooooohhhhhaaaawwwwkkkkkk -_- ). I can see where the emotional and mental change in her personality came from, but the rest...urgh. I have designed a version I like to use in my own art to depict her ( I gave her two-tone hair in a little nod to Clandestiney ). I see her more as a tragic figure than anything, so I wanted to make her lovely and elegant but at the same time kind of unkempt- to portray how undone she has become. As for the mask, I feel like she hides behind it not only for her facial disfigurement ( like Vinnie ), but wears it like a facade- masking the real pain she feels behind all the anger and vengeance. I liked the idea of giving her masquerade style masks, which she can change depending on her mood, or her outfit.

This is just a rought concept. I'll probably make some changes to the neckpiece and etc., but I'll probably end up designing a couple of different outfits and masks for her.
