Well, in Shadowrun the biggest advantage of a Nosferatu is that he (unlike a regular vampire in that setting) technically can eat regular food, but needs blood as a sort of supplement every once in a while. In addition there is a continuous essence drain - which is basically the life force of all sentient beings. As such in Shadowrun blood is only one thing of several that a vampire or Nosferatu needs to worry about. Conversely when he does leech essence from other beings in order to extend his life, he does get a hefty (albeit temporary) buff on top.
