That is a very anime weapon.
This is beautifully done, I love the color (green has been one of my favorite colors since I was young) and the lighting effects, and as a spriter I personally like the clearly defined pixellated outlines and the two-tone shading present in much of the piece (the only exception I can see would be in his sword, which has a bit more depth to its shading)

left elbow shadowing...a little off
shadowing of right ear...not quite right
the design on the back of the vest/jacket thing has incongruous perspective. Heck why bother with it?
and not sure what is going on with the pants. they are consistent though so I can't really complain beyond that.
Overall:
Excellent piece. lovin the design of the sword and the green stuff mucho awesome, also diggin the threads. such an eye for style you have ^_^
