My main male OC, Carver.

I love characters that are in need of redemption, and Carver is no exception. He is an ex-convict, who was a petty thief almost all his life. Despite being a Freedom Fighter now, he tends to keep to himself, as he deals with a lot of prejudice. He has a mark cut into his left shoulder, that identifies his cell block, which was reserved for murderers.

Of course, hardly anyone gives him the chance to explain. Despite being a petty thief for the most part and being in and out of jail for his offenses, he was eventually convicted of the murder of his brother-in-law, whom routinely abused his sister and his nephew. His brother-in-law finally went too far, beating Carver's sister to death and before he could harm her child, Carver strangled him in turn.

Despite the circumstances, Carver was sentenced to life imprisonment, and he never saw his nephew again, who disappeared within the foster care system. When the Plutarkians invaded, they shut down all the prisons and moved the prisoners directly to the labor camps and rock quarries. Carver was able to escape, and joined the Freedom Fighters, thinking it would give him the best network to find out whether his little nephew had survived the war, and hopefully, find him.

Carver comes from a rough background, but his obsession with locating his dead sister's son and raising him completely changes the life he leads. As time goes on, it becomes obvious that there is a truly good person underneath his weathered exterior.
