I'm a chronic over-thinker, as I like to call it. You could say that this bastard represents my overthinkingness, the swollen, out of control flesh that is it's head is that specifically. And the big steel rail/girder (an obvious phallic object) could represent the fact that this overthinking of mine extends to my NSFW stuff, never just my serious stories and crap.

Fascinating character design and thought process. Makes me think of a song by 'The Glitch Mob'
No wonder, you're so stubborn
Nobody ever made you dig deeper
No wonder you've got demons
Everything you ever did is coming back around
I can't help you, if I'm weaker
You took the honey from the queen bee keeper
No wonder, you have demons
Everyone's got a choice this time around
No wonder, you're so stubborn
Nobody ever made you dig deeper
No wonder you've got demons
Everything you ever did is coming back around
I can't help you, if I'm weaker
You took the honey from the queen bee keeper
No wonder, you have demons
Everyone's got a choice this time around
A lot, if not most, artists overthink things. Perhaps one of the most important things for an artist to learn is to know when to stop working at a piece of art and let it alone. And to stop being hyper critical of themselves. Rather than comparing oneself to other artists or some ideal, artists should look at how far they have come. Otherwise one can just burn out and get depressed.
NSFW art can also be serious. In fact, for me, the line between 'sexy', erotic art and regular art is a pretty blurry line. I find it odd and disturbing that violence and war are considered perfectly OK for children to see, but consensual sex must be kept from them.
As for the emotional state of artists, I think Billy Joel said it best when he said That he never felt the fire to create when he was 'saved'. Many artists down through the ages suffered from emotional or mental illness. I think it is this inner conflict that drives a person to create. Or maybe I'm full of it...
