A couple of friends and I are working on a game together - the gist is that she's a college dropout who wakes up with a weird scaly patch on her leg one day and has to cope/navigate life and her feelings as she slowly, irreversibly becomes a mermaid.

EDIT: A lot's changed about this over the past eight months - namely, a few big things! I'll detail them in a separate journal!

Thanks! It's shaping up to be a RPG Maker-type game, and there's visual-novel-type dialogue, but there's not really a clear idea on the exacts beyond that - it's still really early in development!

Ooh, this has a lot of really cool details. Are the horizontal pupils inspired by a particular fish taxon, or are they just a fun addition? I've never heard of fish having that kind of pupil.

It's loosely inspired by how the Creature of the Black Lagoon's eyes (and in turn, the Asset's from The Shape of Water) are shaped, as well as the shape of a lot of frog pupils, actually! So I guess they're sort of a fun addition in that sense.

I love this! Especially love the "feet to pelvic fins" idea. Not enough of these sort of aquatic TFs go that route.

Ahh, thanks! I was a little indecisive about how it'd happen, but everyone insisted I go with the shrinking legs route - and I'm glad I did!

Edit: Also, out of curiosity, was there a particular reason you put the gills so far back?

It's no problem! Legs merging would be awful to deal with over a long period of time.

And I figured that the neck would be too small of an area to get enough oxygen into her blood, plus the whole respiratory system is already there, so why not just tweak it, y'know?
