Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear this piece of your costume.
Very uncomfortable. No foam on top or back of head making the suit very front-heavy and unbalanced. Causes neck strain when wearing. No foam padding or liner with only a small fleece "bumper" on the chin. Most of your face is pressed up against the bare backing of the base and causes a lot of discomfort and sinus pain/pressure. There is a balaclava glued to the inside of the head but the glue has since worn out and torn away from the base. Now there is nothing holding the base to the balaclava so it flops forward. Maker advertised the suit as having an "adjustable" head strap but the strap is just a strip of elastic glued to the base and is not actually adjustable. Elastic does nothing to hold the head in place or make it more comfortable. Sealant used on the head bleeds heavily and stains your skin a dark purple color. This stain is very hard to remove once it gets on your skin. Original zipper was made of thin plastic and broke when worn in combination with my thick hair. Zipper was glued in, not sewn, which at least made for easy removal. Glue is wearing out and the fur is peeling away from the base. Head is unable to balance on it's own when being displayed and needs to be propped up. Vision is horrid. Tear ducts offer almost no visibility both indoors and outdoors. Primary vision is through the mouth and controlled via the moving jaw. Moving jaw does not work making the wearer practically blind.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume piece looks from the outside.
Love the design of the character. Very cute face and wonderful color combination and transition. Love the airbrushed stars. Eyes are big and expressive. Face makes the suit look like it has a nice happy grin. Majority of seams are glued and the seams are now peeling apart away from the base, exposing the foam and material underneath in very large, noticeable patches. Fur used to make the head is thin and the backing tears easily. It looks like the fur is balding when parted and the backing is very noticeable. Fur is stringy and rough to the touch, not soft except on the shaved light pink fur. Very heavily airbrushed which makes it difficult to brush and cannot be smoothed down easily.
Special Attachments and Features
Please describe how satisfied you are with any extra features your head has.
Head advertised as having a moving jaw. Despite fitting the head size recommendation (my head is 23", max suit size is 24") the moving jaw does not work and isn't responsive at all. This makes it difficult to wear the suit as primary visibility is through the mouth but since the mouth doesn't open without using your hands, you cannot see. Stars on the inner ears are made with puffy paint. When viewed up close they look very sloppy. Stars are cracked and show the black fleece underneath. Puffy paint is peeling away from the fleece.
HANDS AND FEET
The following questions ask you to explain how satisfied you are with each feature of the hands and feet of the costume.
Wear Satisfaction
Please describe how it is to wear these pieces of your costume.
Handpaws made entirely of fleece, including the claws and pawpads. Elbow length gloves, no lining, skin tight. Okay to wear and not uncomfortable.
Appearance Satisfaction
Please describe how satisfied you are with how your costume pieces look from the outside.
Fleece pills very badly. Brushing has helped with this somewhat, but there are lots of strands of fleece hanging off the claws that need to be repeatedly trimmed.
OVERALL SATISFACTION
The following questions ask how satisfied you are with the overall buying experience, including your interactions with the maker and the resulting final product.
How well does everything fit together and match up?
Seams do not fit well together due to being glued. Regular spots of glue matted into the fur where excess glue escaped the seam edges. Fits maker's style and is easily recognized as a CityMutt suit.
How easy was it to initially contact the maker for a quote?
Found maker on Twitter. Bought suit from first owner on Instagram.
How satisfied are you with the response time from the maker?
How long did it take the maker to get back to you?
All communication via email as Twitter DMs were ignored. Initially good contact, but email communication dropped off and almost a week elapsed before I sent a reminder email in which they finally got back to me.
How satisfied are you with the professionalism and customer service and of the maker?
Dissatisfied but maker did maintain professionalism. Email communication slowed over time. When I brought up the issue about my face being pressed against the exposed base the maker said if I "preferred a deeper fit then I should fix it myself". I obviously never wanted my face to press against the uncomfortable base and do not feel it's fair the maker is putting the blame on me.
Are you happy with the product you received?
Very unsatisfied. Not worth the price. Suit is already falling apart.
Describe your overall experience with this maker.
Honestly I adore this suit. I really love the character and am very attached to her. I have no plans to sell the suit. But I would never buy another CityMutt fursuit again. I would not recommend this maker to my friends or other people. This suit was very well taken care of by the first owner. It was never worn outside, around children or pets, or for more than an hour at a time. It has never been to a convention. It has never been handled roughly or tossed/roughhoused in. It has never been machine washed, only having a cloth used to gently address spots and a comb to delicately brush the fur. I have worn it outside in 10-30 minute intervals for pictures and always in sunny weather, never in the rain. Despite how gently this suit has been handled it is quite literally falling apart after little more than a year. I have had to put dozens of hours into fixing this suit to make it wearable and it still needs more work to fix all of the glued seams and the places it is ripping away from the base. I do not think this suit will hold up well in the coming years. I fully expect the head to continue disintegrating until it is useless. I do not expect this head to survive a refurbishment and it will likely need to be entirely remade from scratch. I do not wish ill against CityMutt, but their building methods need improvement. I urge caution for anyone thinking about commissioning this maker in the future. Detailed photo review noting all damage can be found at this link: https://imgur.com/a/GnILqcS
