A closeup of the pattern on the design "Gibraltayga" is wearing on his front.
The original character, Gibraltar, is wearing a samoan design, given the character's ethnicity.
Bentayga's a descendant of guanches, the aboriginal people from the Canary Islands. I felt it would be a good concept to do one's character based on my own, not so popularly known ancestry.
Just like his name being a nod to this, I thought it would be a sweet detail to change the pattern to guanche's pintaderas- a design of characteristic geometrical patterns present in much of their elements.
Random trivia about the latest picture, out of what's normally shared by here- but is a detail that's very easy to overlook, and one I'm particularly fond of!

He's happy by default! With a side of grumpy, maybe.
And agreed! I had to do some pintaderas in school when I was younger (plastic arts, yay!) and they're significaaaatively more difficult to plan and intrincate to do without making a mistake than it looks like at first.
Though luckily, this one was made with the invaluable assistance of digital art software, and took a total of about 20 minutes. I wouldn't be so mean to ask someone to manually draw that! haha
Thanks a lot for your comment! 🧡
