Well, I stumbled across the Demoscene Techno tunes...
Thought I'd give it a shot by reducing the WAV file down to 22500 sample rate and keeping the tracks short, with using 8 tracks. Had to compress the track to 128 MP3 to keep the sample rate at 22500.
I've started to learn how to use OpenMPT to sequence MIDI files and came up with some nice arpeggios, but as they say;
Only Amiga does it.

Likely there was a lot of cross-inspiration there among demosceners, Desert Dream came a year later :) Those vector animations in State of The Art are really cool, very unique demo with heavy focus on composition rather than showcasing effects, while the techniques it uses are mind-blowing for that time!
